CHANGE OF PLANS

Due to COVID-19, we have opted to postpone our wedding again until July 8th of 2021. Your health and safety always come first, and we wish you and your loved ones all the best during this time. We hope you are available to join us on our new date and look forward to celebrating next summer! We were married on September 12, 2020 in front of immediate family members. We will be renewing our vows and holding a reception to celebrate on July 8, 2021. All of the details are the same as the original invitation from May 9, 2020, just a different date. Please see additional tabs for detailed information and RSVP. Appreciate your patience and support through this difficult time of uncertainty and we look forward to celebrating with you all!

HOW WE MET

STATEN ISLAND, CIRCA 2003

Jonathan and I have actually known each other since were were 12 & 13 years old. Though we attended different schools, we had mutual friends and oftentimes wound up hanging out in the same places. Years of friendship turned into a crush. But, I guess it wasn't our time yet. I had invited Jonathan to my Sweet 16 and he declined the invitation. He said it was because he already paid for the Junior Holiday dance which was the same night. After that, we didn't speak for 7 years...

HOW WE RECONNECTED

SNAPCHAT, 2014

Out of nowhere, after sever years of not speaking, I got the urge to wish Jonathan a happy birthday. From there we got to catching up and old feelings emerged. I was still holding a grudge about him not coming to my Sweet 16, but decided to give him a chance. After five months of me asking him when he's going to take me on a date, so he could redeem himself, he finally took me out.

THE ENGAGEMENT

PHILADELPHIA, 2018

Four years later, the moment we had both been waiting for finally arrived. I had been anticipating this day for at least two years. We often talked about eventually getting married, so it was inevitable. I never thought I could be so surprised... I had been really stressed at work, so I decided to take a mental health day, so we could get away from the city. We didn't decide on the place until last minute, so I wasn't expecting anything big to happen because he didn't have any time to plan. We decided on Philadelphia because my sister, Alexa, was living there at the time, so we thought it would be nice to visit her. He told me to plan activities, but he would book the spa. He told me the only hotel with spa availability was the Ritz Carlton and he got a good deal. I didn't think anything of it, but when I told my co-workers that's where were were staying they immediately said, "YOU'RE GETTING ENGAGED!" I quickly shot the idea down because Jon knew I did not have time to get a manicure and I only planned on bringing my big puffy winter coat. He knew better than that... right? On our second day there, Jon guided us to what I thought would be the liberty bell. I had suspicions that we were going the wrong way, but Jon was always the navigator, so I trusted him. He then took me down a small block, that he said would be pretty, but I disagreed. Finally we reached a pretty block, I stopped and took a picture, then we turned a corner and I was very surprised to see my sister... holding a camera... In that moment, I knew what was happening and immediately started crying. Jon got down on one knee and said "Sorry this took so long. Alyssa, will you marry me?" Stunned at how perfect the ring was, of course I said yes and started ugly crying in happiness. Then I asked if we were still going to the Liberty Bell. The answer was also yes. Upon our return home, our friends and family were waiting for us to celebrate our engagement and we couldn't be happier!
