We met at church. I actually knew Ernie's family before I knew him. I run the hospitality department and Ernie runs the usher department. We would see each other at church and just say hi. In February of 2025 things changed. We both say it started with a text message. Although, we had each others number we used it just for church things. 2nd Sunday in February, a text was sent to see if he was OK because he had some drama he just dealt with. From that day the texting never stopped. The funny part of our relationship, we both told each other, I don't want to date you, I just want to be friends, strictly platonic. We also said, we would never get married again, because both of us have been married and divorced. God, said you two are funny, watch what I am going to do! We went on our first "date" that we said, wasn't a date, March 22nd. Just 2 friends going out to celebrate my birthday. It went so amazingly well, we went out the next weekend on an official date. March 29th, has become our anniversary. We have just been enjoying our relationship that we said we would never be in! Serving at church, being funny with each other, lots of eating and gaining weight! They say, when you are in love, it's love weight! Now, the most amazing part of it all, this was in God's plan! We both had words spoken over us, Joann spoke over me and said, I see a man sitting in your passenger seat!! Little did she know that I was like, Nope! A year later, Pastor Art spoke over Ernie that God was going to send him someone. I'm sure he was thinking the same thing! Nope! We both know God's hand was in all of this from day 1! When it's God appointed, it's God appointed! The weekend that changed it all! It was a last minute getaway to Cambria in November. I can say, Ernie was definitely acting weird during the getaway! The first night, we got in late, and he didn't sleep. He was up and down the whole night! The second day, we started the day late because he didn't sleep. We went and saw the elephant seals, and it was so cold and foggy. We went back to the hotel, then to the beach across the street and took a walk. Ernie was being weird, he kept stopping, looking over his shoulder. Apparently, he was looking for a place to propose. Did I mention it was freezing, so I stuck my hand in his pocket. Funny story, he had the ring box inside his pocket. I didn't feel it, because he stuck his hand in there real quick and grabbed my hand. Needless to say, he didn't propose that night, because the fog came in so thick. He was so disappointed, even though I love that kind of weather and would have been okay with it. We had another sleepless night, at this point I was like, take something. He kept telling me he wasn't sick! Well, you are something! Now I know it was his nerves. Check-out day, we had another late start. We went to Hearst Castle and after the tour on the way down, Ernie said, I'm going to pull over so we can take a picture before heading back. We pulled over, it was a beautiful location and it was actually not foggy. We get out of the truck and just took in the view from the cliff. At that moment, he starts telling me how much he loves me, side note for me it was nothing out of the ordinary, because he tells me everyday how much he loves me. I tried to look at him and he pushed my face away, again, he was being weird the whole trip! We turn back around and look at the water. He was behind me and had his hand on my shoulder and kept pushing me forward, umm, you trying to push me off the cliff? I went to grab my phone out of my back pocket to take a picture and all I remember is seeing him on one knee! I was like what is happening?! After the shock, he asked me to marry him, of course I said, YES! Just so you know, after he proposed, he was finally hungry and we went to eat afterwards. Now, I know why he was acting so weird! His nerves! Y'all we're getting, MARRIED, MARRIED, and can't wait to share our moment with all of you! Mark 10:9
