We met at the University of Tennessee while pledging the same business fraternity. Grayson noticed me from afar at pledge meeting and thought my "concentration" face was cute ;) We became good friends, and he got a big ole crush on me, but I shot him down. We still remained friends though. And we got pretty close. We were in the same friend group and hung out all the time. He was so easy to talk to, more than most guys I had known. And I could be my complete self around him. Everyone thought we should date, or would date one day. But I was very adamant, "we're just friends, seriously!" And we were! But deep down, I always wondered what it might be like to be more. Grayson seems to think that my asking him to a formal (as just friends) was when our romantic connection started to bloom, but let the record show I disagree. Here’s how he tells the story: We first realized we could be more than friends when Tori asked me to a formal sophomore year, and I politely declined (Tori insists she reneged on the offer). We spent the next 1.5 years growing our friendship, which blossomed into something innocent and beautiful. While away on a school trip in Manhattan Junior year, I received some advice from a friend (Dora), who told me Tori would go on a date with me if I asked. Now knowing the odds were in my favor, I challenged Tori to a race (we used to run together on Sundays). If I won, Tori would go on a date with me, but if I lost, I would go on a date with Tori. Like Tennessee Athletics over the past decade, she had a shot at winning, but ended up with the L, and we agreed to go on our first date on April 12th, 2016. Since then, we’ve graduated college, moved across the country, gotten engaged, and been doing long distance for the past two years. The rest and best is yet to come! Following our wedding on July 12th, and a much needed honeymoon after, we will be moving back east and starting married life in Atlanta, GA.
