It is as if they picked each-other off of a website (they did, thanks match.com!). After emailing back and forth for two months, Gray picked a sushi spot in the town Janet was living in. True to their word, they both arrived early and saw each other from across the street. Both were relieved that the pictures were accurate and neither of them was late! Janet brought her own soy sauce to the restaurant and Gray gave her a giant hug. While half way through their sushi rolls, with Janet failing to successfully conceal her "outside" soy sauce contraband from the restaurant staff, Gray asked Janet to go to the Sacramento Wing's fest the following day where she met 2 of Gray's closest friends. Gray knew that they clicked immediately and couldn't wait to introduce her to his friends! It was one of the easiest and best decisions she has ever made.
It is not every day that you get to hear of someone getting engaged on a volcano, but that is how it happened. Gray spent the previous 6 months making Janet's engagement ring, and 6 weeks planning where and when it was going to happen. It was an easy decision to ask Janet at the top of the beautiful inactive volcano named Cinder Cone in Lassen Volcanic National Park. The hike up to the crater was a feat. Luckily, Gray and Janet were the first to summit the peak that day; so, they had the spectacular view and serene quiet all to themselves. Gray got a few yards ahead of Janet near the top and set up his Go-Pro in video mode. When Janet got to the top, Gray proposed, and Janet yelled "Are you kidding me?!?" before responding "Of course YES!" And now we have our special moment on video (although the audio isn't crystal clear)!
