Is there a dress code?

Answer

Black Tie Optional: Tuxes and gowns are welcome, and so are suits and cocktail/midi dresses. Average temperature highs during this time of the year are 74 - 81 degrees, average lows are between 55 - 66 degrees.

Is there a hotel room block?

Answer

Since there are so many Airbnb/VRBO, hotel, bed + breakfasts we have chosen not to do a hotel room block. There is a list of hotels on the "Travel" page that you can check out. Keep in mind, that list is not exhaustive and there are many options in the area of varying price points. We do suggest staying in the Historic District as that is where the wedding events take place.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our ceremony is completely outside in the Scarborough Garden and the reception will be held in the Assembly Room which is a covered outdoor space.

Will there be a sit-down dinner?

Answer

No, we have chosen to have a cocktail style reception with hors d'oeuvres, action stations and an open bar. We want our guests to eat when they want and be able to enjoy the party for as much time as possible!

Are kids welcome?

Answer

As much as we love your little ones, this will be an adults-only celebration. We hope this advance notice means you’re able to let your hair down and celebrate with us on the day!

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Yes, Ships of the Sea has parking. But If you are planning on enjoying the open bar, we would prefer you use a ride sharing service, designated driver, or walk to/from the wedding.

Are photos allowed at the wedding?

Answer

Our ceremony is phone free, so please do not take any photos during that time. After the ceremony, please take as many photos as you like! If you know us, you know Caitlin loves as many pictures as she can get, so go wild with the pictures the rest of the evening.
