Andy and Anna met in high school - although they were only one year apart and in a small town, they never ran in the same circles. When looking for a Homecoming date, Andy asked one of his friends who he should take, and his friend suggested Anna. The rest is history. They dated throughout college at the University of Missouri (MIZ!), until junior year, but quickly realized that together was the best place to be. They moved to Kansas City ("the north") to establish their careers and chase their dreams.
In 2018, Andy moved to London for 6 months to work for Cerner and Anna took a trip abroad to visit him. They rented a car and drove up through northern England and Scotland. In Masham, England, on a rainy hike, Andy proposed. It was perfectly imperfect - "I was wearing workout clothes, a rain jacket, and no makeup and we had just sprinted back to the car after it started pouring down raining on us during our hike. The rain stopped for a moment while we were planning our route to Scotland and Andy asked if I wanted to have one last look (the English countryside was beautiful!). He fumbled around in his backpack and I was confused, because I thought he wanted to have one last look. Then he pulled out the ring and proposed. When I think back on it, it couldn't have been more 'us'." - Anna "When we were packing for our road trip, Anna almost touched the ring. I walked around London for about a week with the ring in the front pocket of my backpack, since I didn't want to leave it in my hotel room. When we were packing, I asked Anna where I should pack my sunglasses and she said "How about the front pocket of your backpack?" and reached over and started to unzip the backpack. I casually told her they wouldn't fit there and, after looking at me like I was crazy, Anna zipped the pocket back up. Close call." - Andy
