Grant Thompson and Serena Khiantani met online through Hinge and had their first date at Aldar Café in Memphis in February of 2024. From the very beginning, one of their favorite things about each other was their shared faith, and they quickly realized something about this relationship was different. After their first two dates in Memphis—where Grant got a feel for Serena’s world—Serena made the trip to Water Valley for their third date, giving her a glimpse into Grant’s life. By then, they were both convinced this was something special. Shortly after, Serena traveled across the globe to Hong Kong, and the two faced their first real test—being far apart. Despite the distance, they made it a priority to stay connected, coordinating calls across time zones—early mornings, late nights, and everything in between—just to talk. When Serena returned home after her journey, she went straight to see Grant, and from that moment on, their relationship became something deeper and more intentional. Over the next two years, they grew together—learning, serving, and sacrificing for one another, and most importantly, falling deeply in love. At the center of it all was their shared love for the Lord, which became the glue that strengthened and solidified the foundation of their relationship. One of the things they cherish most is the life they share between two worlds: the energy of the city and the peace of the country. Whether it’s nights at the Orpheum, exploring downtown Memphis, traveling, and being involved with VISA, or riding four-wheelers, fishing, hiking, and enjoying the slower pace of Water Valley, they love every part of doing life together. On March 14, 2026, Grant proposed to Serena in a quiet, secluded spot at Shelby Farms. Soon after, they were joined by family and friends at Belltower Coffee for a surprise celebration that marked the beginning of their next chapter. They are beyond excited to begin this new season of life—joining together and building a future rooted in love, faith, and commitment.
