We don’t have the typical “how we met” story like most couples. Ours is a little quirky and different—but it wouldn’t be like us to be ordinary. Grant was living in Leakey, helping with his family’s business, while Miranda was home from college for the weekend. With not much to do in the small town of Leakey, they both somehow ended up at the same place on a Saturday night… a baby shower. It was a co-ed shower, and while Miranda was there to celebrate her friends, Grant was just there for the beer. As fate would have it, Miranda went to grab a drink (alcoholic or not, we’ll never say), and she caught Grant’s eye. He walked over, struck up a conversation, and the two ended up talking the entire night in a corner. Before long, Grant convinced Miranda to take her very low-to-the-ground Honda Civic up to the top of his uncle’s hill. Miranda kept asking if he was sure her little Civic could handle it, and with all the confidence in the world, Grant promised it would. One damaged skid plate later, they made it to the top. Since that night, Miranda has never stopped trusting Grant’s ability to lead their relationship, even if a few skid plates have been left behind along the way.
