It all started at what Grant still proudly refers to as “The Singles Party.” Back in August 2020, Grant was living with his friends, one of them being Leo. Leo’s girlfriend, Liv, mentioned she was bringing some single friends over one weekend. For Grant and his roommate Fred - the two single guys in the apartment at the time - this quickly became the biggest event of the week. In preparation, they even set up chairs in the backyard in a speed dating format… which was immediately shut down for being “way too weird.” Naturally, on the actual night of the party, someone suggested speed dating anyway - and that’s where Grant and Lauren officially met. (Although Lauren still claims they technically met earlier at Leo’s brother’s apartment. This debate remains unresolved.) After the party, the two continued crossing paths through mutual friends, including at Lauren’s best friend Claire’s birthday party a few months later. Somewhere between group hangouts, late-night conversations, and becoming constants in each other’s lives, things slowly started to click. Eventually, Grant worked up the courage to ask Lauren on a real date. She said yes — which immediately led to a new problem: he had absolutely no plan. A few days before the date, Lauren casually pointed out they still needed to decide where to go and sent Grant a thoughtfully organized list of restaurant options. It was then that Grant knew she was the one: someone who could balance out his spontaneity with a real plan. Since then, they’ve built a life around many of the things they love most - traveling, trying new restaurants, cooking together, workout classes, hiking, running, and always planning the next adventure. From road-tripping from Chicago down to Charleston, South Carolina, to wandering through European Christmas markets, to eating their way through Japan, they’ve learned their favorite experiences are the ones shared together. Over the years, Lauren has helped Grant become slightly more organized, while Grant has successfully convinced Lauren that some of the best plans start with, “Trust me, it’ll work out.” Now, after years of adventures, countless flights, and probably too many meals planned around restaurant reservations, they’re excited for their next chapter together — and can’t wait to celebrate it with all of you.
