Question

How did Grant and Kathryn meet?

Answer

At a fire station. And no, Kathryn was not on fire. Kathryn went to see a friend at Station 5 in Cameron Village. After many trips up and down the stairs, Grant eventually was pressured by a few other hopeless romantic firefighters to get Kathryn’s number.

On Kathryn’s favorite day of the year, Christmas Eve, in front of the their Christmas tree at home with 3 very excited dogs surrounding them!

Question

Who is Kathryn Buckley?

Answer

Kathryn grew up here in Cary and then adventured to Mississippi for college at Mississippi State University where she received degrees in forestry, fisheries, and wildlife (AKA hunting and fishing). After quite a few nomadic years in Utah, Tennessee, and Hawaii, Kathryn moved back to Cary. Kathryn currently serves as a youth and children’s minister at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Raleigh as well as in her second year of Divinity School at Campbell University working on a dual masters in clinical mental health counseling. At night, Kathryn doubles as a competitive gymnastics coach for Triumph Gymnastics as well as a high school coach for 4 Wake County schools. She also serves as the regional youth engagement coordinator for Red Cross working with high schools and colleges across central and eastern North Carolina. In her spare time, she enjoys trying to convince Grant to adopt more dogs, reading, playing with their 4 dogs, making jewelry and sewing.

Question

What do Kathryn and Grant do in their down time?

Answer

Since both Kathryn and Grant have non-traditional work hours, they find bits and pieces of down time in the middle of weekdays or a nugget on the weekend. However, when they do get to enjoy each other’s blissful company, they usually cook, work on puzzles, tell jokes, and if they are lucky, escape to the mountains. Although lately, their time has been spent house hunting, looking at perspective houses, and daydreaming about the market not being so crazy!
