Who would have thought you’d find love in the middle of a pandemic? Grant and Courtney decided to take a chance and meet someone new on the Hinge dating app. With some encouragement from her friends, Courtney (aka her friend Amanda) messaged Grant and the two bonded over their love for the water. Eventually, they decided to meet up at Second Wave coffee shop and get to know each other more. Before they knew it, they were at a Waffle House down the road enjoying some bacon and doing some good ol’ people-watching. As they said their goodbyes, Courtney, not knowing how to interact with someone during a pandemic, went in for a hug which turned into a chest bump. After that, Grant was smitten. They began to find creative ways to date when the world had shut down in the pandemic. Eventually, Grant introduced Courtney to his daughter, Audrey Gene, and the trio were unstoppable. One day, Courtney told Grant that if he ever proposed, she wanted it to be in the presence of people they loved. Taking that to heart, Grant suggested that they should throw a BBQ at his house, and he invited their parents. He then mentioned inviting friends, both local and from out of town. Courtney thought it was a great idea and more and more people were able to make it. In fact, a LOT of people were able to make it. Even people that originally couldn’t, all of a sudden changed their minds. On the day of the BBQ, Courtney and Grant were surrounded by friends and family. It was a perfect way to spend a Saturday. Audrey Gene even made an announcement to everyone about how happy she was to have Courtney in her and her father’s life. Then Grant chimed in, talking about how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Courtney and he hoped she’d want the same. He got down on one knee and asked Courtney to be his wife and presented an engagement ring with three diamonds from three generations of her family. She said “YES!”
