Our story is unfamiliar to most, but becoming more familiar as millenials navigate their way through the online dating portal. Grant and I met at a non-profit charity event. A muscular dystrophy charity event at the bowling alley to be exact. Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? It’s true, but not quite. Well that was our story of how we met for one year before we actually told the truth of how our love story really unfolded. It was on September 17th, 2013. Our love story began unlike most, behind an iPhone keyboard and a dating App called, “OKCupid”. Long story short, I decided to give the hunk my phone number. We talked and talked for about a month without ever seeing each other in person. I was in college living alone and giving my number to a complete stranger, you can say I was not eager to meet him. Until October 23rd, 2013. I worked at the YMCA and we had a Halloween Carnival that night. After spending time with my coworkers, realizing they were going to a bar after (I was not 21 at the time), I decided to be spontaneous. I called Grant and asked him what he was doing. I could hear people chatting in the background, turns out, he has a roommate who is a nurse and he had all of his nurse coworkers at the house. I told Grant I am on my way and he had no time to flinch. Nervous or not, I went to his house in Sebastopol. When I saw him for the first time, I thought to myself, “wow, he is way cute in person”. He offered me to come inside and no way in heck was I going inside a strangers home by myself (Thanks Dad for instilling those thoughts). We stood outside by my car and talked for what seemed one hour became three hours. My best friend called me three times wondering where I was, so by midnight I figured it was time to go. That night on October 23rd, I just knew I had my forever partner right in front of me. Every single night from that day on, my prince charming has swept me off my feet! I cannot wait to marry my best friend and my forever Prince Charming!!
