I was lucky enough to meet Grant halfway through my senior year of high school. We happened to meet at a mutual friend’s birthday party and I was impressed with his humor and intelligence right away. We started talking every day after that night and went on our first date shortly after. I quickly realized how special he was and appreciated that he always brought out the best in me. With us going to different high schools and different colleges, we drove to see each other every weekend. Not being in the same city was sometimes frustrating, but the drive was always worth it. Over the past five years I’ve watched him grow into a resilient and confident leader who is strong in his faith, is dedicated to helping others, and loves me deeply. We now share the same city and I can’t wait to share the rest of my life with him.
I knew that I was going to propose to Olivia in the spring or summer of this year; however, I did not expect to have to plan a proposal around a global pandemic. Thankfully in the one week we both had off we were lucky enough to go to the beach with her family, two of Olivia’s favorite things. I knew this was an opportunity I couldn’t let get away from me, so I ordered a nice picnic basket for us to keep and made my plans. I had another huge stroke of luck because unbeknownst to Olivia, my friend and groomsman, Kiah, just so happened to be on vacation about an hour away. As we were at dinner with Olivia’s family, Kiah drove to the restaurant and set up the picnic basket on the beach to help me surprise Olivia. After dinner, we walked out to the beach for pictures and I got to ask Olivia the greatest question ever, and she gave me the best answer.
