Our story began when we were six years old. We met in the first grade at Bethany Elementary. Robert used to chase all the girls on the playground but I was the only one he ever caught (because I let him *wink). We grew up in the same neighborhood. When we were fourteen, he gave me my first kiss in the back of a movie theatre...it was disgusting. We went our own way for a while but reconnected our senior year. He took me to prom. I was supposed to go with somebody else but when he became available, I dumped my date and went with him instead. At that point, we were joined at the hip. Stupidly, he never ask me to be his girlfriend so I decided to date his best friend. Inevitably, he went off to college. We saw each other sometimes because my family lived in Lubbock where he went to school. That's where he met his first wife. They had two beautiful children together. We didn't see each other for almost ten years. When I finally graduated, my family threw a big party. For some reason, he popped into my head and I decided to invite him to the party. He couldn't make it but asked me to lunch. By pure coincidence, he was working about fifteen minutes from where I was living, in Denton. He was still finalizing his divorce so we took things very slow, at the beginning. We didn't get serious until last December, only six months ago. It took us 28 years to start a relationship but only six months to realize that we belonged together.
