FAQs

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

No. We suggest dressy, but comfortable. For women-- the property has a lot of natural terrain, so stilettos will not be very fun! If you'd like to wear heels, block heels and wedges would be best. You may also consider bringing a change of shoes :)

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

Yes, there is a school bus shuttle that will go from Hotel Floyd and the wedding grounds. The shuttle leaves Hotel Floyd at 3:30pm to bring guests to the wedding ceremony. The shuttle is available for guests as needed until 11:30 pm.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Rooms are blocked at Hotel Floyd until June 10th, 2022. You may also look into hotels in the Christiansburg and Blacksburg areas. Keep in mind these towns are 30-45 minutes away.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes and please do as soon as possible.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

We strongly encourage people to use the shuttle. There is not much room for parking, unless you are planning on camping on the property.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes, but we also understand many people would like a date night. It is up to you if you would like to bring your children or not :) You are responsible for your children throughout the day and evening if you bring them. Please include them on your RSVP if you plan on bringing them.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Cocktail hour starts at 4pm with the ceremony beginning at 5pm nearby. If you are staying in the hotel, we STRONGLY encourage you to get the school bus shuttle at 3:30 pm. The school bus shuttle will not be available for guests to go from the hotel to the ceremony between 4:30-5pm, because it will be transporting the bridal party.

Question

What can I expect?

Answer

We will have some traditional aspects, but in general it is going to be more casual than typical weddings. It is mostly outdoor, with some sheltered areas including a barn and party tents. The property has natural terrain, so please plan accordingly. We will have lots of fun activities for adults and kids, including skateboarding, dancing, games, bonfire, and kids movie night under the stars. Dinner will be served buffet style and laid back. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available.

Question

What is the bathroom situation?

Answer

There will be a nice 3-restroom trailer for guests. There will be a porta potty in the camping area for campers. Please keep in mind the restroom trailer has stairs. If you need special accommodations due to physical limitations, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Question

Will I have to do a lot of walking on the property?

Answer

The ceremony and reception areas are next to each other. The shuttle drops hotel guests off right at the ceremony. There is a small hill to walk down to the ceremony. The camping area to the ceremony and reception grounds is about a 3-5 minute walk on a dirt road. It will be lit up at night.

Question

Can I rely on Uber and Lyft if I don't make the shuttle?

Answer

The area is very rural, so it is highly unlikely that Ubers and Lyfts will be reliable options for transportation. Please do your best to use the school bus shuttle if you are staying in the hotel.
