Liz and Graham both competed in Destination Imagination in high school in 2012. Their DI teams met and even took photos together. That year, Graham's team made it to Global Finals, but Liz's didn't. Graham Facebook messaged Liz a little about his time there. Fast forward 4 years. They hadn't spoken or seen each other since May 2012, so they had completely forgotten about each other. Then, they met again in 2016 at You Game? (Georgia College's Gaming Club). Liz and Graham bonded by playing board games (most notably, hidden traitor games) and Kingdom Hearts. However, they didn't have any idea they knew each other previously until Facebook Memories reminded them with a photo! Once they had gaming and DI to bond over, there was a pretty easy connection!

On their 4th anniversary, Graham wanted to propose. Liz had asked Graham months before to not propose with a ring whenever he was ready, so she could help pick out the ring. However, Graham still wanted to do something special. He planned to propose with a necklace (the Mermaid Pendant from Stardew Valley), but because of COVID-19, the order was delayed and would not be delivered in time for their anniversary. Since Milledgeville was under Shelter-in-Place orders during the Coronavirus lockdown, Graham was struggling to find something else to propose with! He ended up picking out a Ring Pop (watermelon flavored) and then placed it into a card Deck Box. On the night of their 4-year anniversary, they were watching Avengers: End Game, and at the end of the movie, he got down on one knee and popped the question with the Ring Pop!
