After a near-miss on Tinder, Emily and Graham almost never met. Regardless, the internet dating goddesses had other plans, and Graham and Emily connected soon after on OkCupid. Witty text banter ensued, and they met for their first date on a rainy Monday in late November, at a little pub in Harvard Square where a mutual friend* worked. * It is worth mentioning that both Graham and Emily were aware that they had this mutual friend, thanks to their separate internet sleuthing, but both pretended to not know that the other knew this friend until it "organically" came up in conversation on their first date. They did not confess to each other until months later that they both knew that the other also knew her.
On a mutually agreed upon date, Emily and Graham met face to face in a sort of "reverse duel" (think Hamilton and Burr, but with a happier ending) to state their cases and present their offerings. Emily proposed with a food processor. Graham proposed with a ring. They both said yes.
