Since this is where we call home, we highly recommend checking out the incredible food and drink scene over here! A few favorites: Noko: Fantastic Asian-inspired wood-fired restaurant (our first date spot!). Kisser: Award-winning Japanese comfort food (go for lunch!). Lyra: Modern, delicious Middle Eastern cuisine in a beautiful space. Mas Tacos Por Favor: A Nashville staple for no-frills, top-tier tacos. The Wash: A converted car wash housing local food stalls with a shared patio (try SS Gai!). Sho Pizza Bar: Great spot for pizza, drinks, and a fun neighborhood vibe. Urban Cowboy: Boutique hotel with a lively patio serving pizza and cocktails. Tall Tales: Rooftop bar at the Waymore with great drinks and downtown views. Flora & Fauna: Beautiful cafe and roastery perfect for morning coffee and brunch. Southern Grist: Local craft brewery with creative brews, just blocks from the Grafs.
Just across the river from East, Germantown is a historic neighborhood full of brick sidewalks, beautiful architecture, and excellent spots. Basket Case Grocer: A charming neighborhood market, deli, and café perfect for a quick bite or curated goods. Surefire Coffee (in Germantown and in East): Excellent coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches. You have to try our go-tos: the Banana Bread Chai (Allie's favorite - add a shot or two of espresso) or the Campfire Latte (Miguel's favorite). The Optimist: A stunning, upscale seafood restaurant and oyster bar if you're looking for a special dinner. Monday Night Brewing: Located right on the Cumberland River, it's a massive, cool taproom with great outdoor space and solid beers. Mother's Ruin: A lively, casual cocktail bar with amazing elevated pub food that stays open late.
Beaman Park: Where we got engaged! It is a bit of a drive from the city, but it offers gorgeous, quiet hiking trails and is our absolute favorite place for some peace and quiet. Shelby Park: Take a stroll through Shelby Park right here in East Nashville. It’s a beautiful spot to walk along the Cumberland River and enjoy a little nature.
Broadway: If you want the quintessential Nashville neon-light honky-tonk experience, we suggest visiting Broadway during the day! It’s a blast, much easier to navigate, and a bit more manageable than the late-night crowd. Catch a Show: Check the calendar ahead of time to see who is playing at the Ryman Auditorium (the Mother Church of Country Music) or outdoors downtown at the Ascend Amphitheater. Hit the Museums: There are a ton of music-centered museums throughout the city! We personally recommend the Johnny Cash Museum, the Museum of African American Music, or the Country Music Hall of Fame.
While Vandy football is out of town for the weekend, NFL fans are in luck! On Sunday, October 25th at 12:00 PM, the Tennessee Titans are taking on the Cleveland Browns right here at Nissan Stadium. You can also try out these sports bars: Beyond the Edge (East Nashville): A classic East Nashville staple with tons of TVs, great beers on tap, and pub grub. Nobles (East Nashville): A beer hall right in the heart of East Nashville with tons of TVs, a local beer list, and smoked wings.
