About 7 years ago we met through a mutual friend. Seeing each other at gatherings and parties, but we didn't really get to know each other until 2017, when we went out for a birthday drink. We have birthdays around the same time. After a month of laughing, shared meals and enjoying each others company, we made it official. 3.5 years later, we own a home together, have two energetic dogs and have never looked back once. We will have been together for 5 years when our wedding day is here and are looking forward to a lifetime of more laughter, funny stories, camping, bad jokes, shared meals and adventures together as best friends, partners and husband & wife.
In 2020, we took a camping trip back to the first place we ever traveled to, just the two of us. Same camp site and shore views in Grand Marais, MN. We both knew we wanted to be engaged, but didn't share our plans with the other - in an attempt to be surprising. Though, admittedly, after the first day I was too excited and asked Grady to marry me while we sat on the shore and shared a glass of wine. He laughed in reply and asked if I was serious. With an enthusiastic "yes" from me, he said "of course, but you should know, I was going to ask you tomorrow. I have a ring for you back at camp." We've been smiling ever since.
