Out of Town Recs

For those not as familiar with Brooklyn, we have some fun activities and places to share!
Brooklyn Museum

Brooklyn Museum

200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11238

The Brooklyn museum has a fantastic collection and is way less packed than many of the Manhattan museums. Some of our favs from the collection are Albert Bierstadt's paintings of the American West, Judy Chicago's The Dinner Party, and the many incredible period rooms. There will be a special exhibition on Monet & Venice on view as well- which will be well worth a visit :)

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Brooklyn, NY 11238

Brooklyn Botanical Garden is a serene paradise within the bustling city. We love coming here, especially in the Spring and Fall to see the seasonal flowers. Explore the beautiful grounds, as well as the indoor green houses!

Prospect Park

Prospect Park

Brooklyn, NY

Take a walk through our beloved Prospect Park. We recommend entering at the Grand Army Plaza Entrance. On Saturday mornings, there is a farmer's market here too! Follow the park's main loop, or one of the numerous smaller paths to explore! Gemma loves to run in the big field :).

Public Records

Public Records

233 Butler Street, Gowanus, NY 11217

We are music nerds, so we love a music themed bar! Very "Brooklyn chic" and a great scene that also serves lite food and snacks.

Sunny's

Sunny's

253 Conover Street, Red Hook, NY 11231

One of the oldest bars in Brooklyn, and Oli's personal fav!

Sottocasa

Sottocasa

298 Atlantic Avenue, Boerum Hill, NY 11201

New York City is known for its pizza. Though it's not your traditional New York slice, this is one of the best pizza places in the borough, and Gracie's go to pizza spot (yes they have GF pizza too!)

John's of Bleecker Street

John's of Bleecker Street

278 Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10014

Tried to keep the recommendations Brooklyn-based, but this one had to sneak in. If you've never tried a New York slice, go to John's. You won't be disappointed!

Tom’s Restaurant

Tom’s Restaurant

782 Washington Avenue, Prospect Heights, NY 11238

Tom's Diner in Prospect Heights has been running since 1936. Come for pancakes, grits, and bacon. Fun fact: there is a picture of Gracie's grandfather on the wall! See if you can find it :)

Russ & Daughters Brooklyn

Russ & Daughters Brooklyn

141 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn Navy Yard, NY 11205

You have to get a good bagel while in NYC! Though not the original location, Russ & Daughters is a classic NYC staple, serving the best lox we've (and anyone) has ever had. This location in the Brooklyn Navy Yards is quieter and you'll have a shorter line than the Manhattan location. Our favorite is the pastrami lox!

Unnameable Books

Unnameable Books

615 Vanderbilt Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11238

Oli's fave local neighborhood bookshop in Prospect Heights, filled with gems—old and new. Gracie is often found dragging him out its doors.
