I remember following Emilio on Instagram over spring break and telling my friends how cute I thought he was. Over the next few weeks, I kept asking around about him to my friends that I knew that went to his school. One night, my dance friends and I went to Austin High Schools play, "SchoolHouse Rock", to see some of our friends that were in it. After the play, we all kind of hung around to see our friends and thats when we met. I remember being so excited to meet him, I even invited him to come with all of us to Sonic after we left the school. (He didn't come lol). Then a few weeks later, I got an Instagram message from Emilio. Talk about excited. On April 24, 2015, Emilio asked me on a date. The most perfect first date, might I add.

As Gracie said above, It all started with social media. I saw that she was mutual friends with mine so knew that was my window ;) lol. Maybe a week or two later I happened to go support my friends and see the only play I ever watched in my high school experience and guess who was there?! After the play my friends and her friends were all standing around talking and I just remember how she stood out from everybody. I distinctly remember how energetic she was that night hahahah. Anyways, yes, it is true that Gracie invited my friends and I to hang afterwards but we ended up doing something else. A little time passes after that night and I slid in her DM's by started a simple conversation. I asked her on a date and the rest is history.

Emilio: First, I should start off by saying Gracie and I have always talked about going to Puerto Rico in the winter time. One day I was thinking "How crazy would it be to propose to Gracie in Puerto Rico?" I kept it to myself for a little while. Then, decided that I could make it happen with a lot of planning. So, in August I decided I was going to ask for Gracie's parents blessing and talk to them about the plan. After they agreed, the planning began. Gracie: Emilio asked me if I wanted to go back to Puerto Rico after I finished finals in December. Of course, my answer was YES. So, without any knowledge of the real reason we were going, we bought the plane tickets and started the count down. Emilio: Skipping all the small details, I made friends with a local photographer on Instagram, who was going to take us up to a mountain in Puerto Rico. I made sure he knew it was a surprise and to make it look as though we were just meeting up to take photos in Gracie's eyes. Gracie: It was so normal for me to get a message from Emilio saying "Hey, let's meet up with this guy to take photos" so, I thought nothing of it. Emilio: After stressing about where to put the ring while traveling, I decided to put in in my checked bag. And when arriving in PR, my bag was the very last one on the belt. Talk about a mini heart attack! Gracie: I was wondering why he was freaking out so much about not seeing his bag. Normally he'd just say "I packed a swimsuit in my backpack, we're good to go." Emilio: I woke up so nervous the day of the proposal. We got ready to drive to the other side of the island to go to the mountains. On the drive, I kept having to take deep breaths hoping she wouldn't notice. Gracie: I had no idea he was nervous. While driving up the CURVY mountain roads, I was complaining about being scared. Then, I saw the outlook and said: "Emilio, how cool would it be to get married up here."

Emilio: I was so nervous, even talking lol. When we got to the spot, we took a couple of pictures. Gracie: When the photographer asked us to go to the edge of the rock, I went as close to the edge as possible, Emilio asked me to back up some. hahaha Emilio: Then, it was go time. I turned her around and said whatever came to mind. I was so excited. Gracie: I was in shock. I just remember thinking wow, this is happening!!! He got down on one knee and said the sweetest things, and asked: "Will you marry me?" The EASIEST, most exciting question I have ever answered!!! After it was all said and done, we screamed as loud as we could!!! Gracie: Little did I know, all the excitement wasn't over. We headed back to the Air BnB that we were staying at that night, and guess who was there... MY PARENTS & HIS MOM. They threw us the sweetest little engagement party on the roof of the place. Emilio worked so hard to pull off this trip of a lifetime full of surprises and made it so special for me.
