G + D

From Kiski to Boise

We met in Ms. Varano's Spanish class when we were in 9th (Gracie) and 10th (Dylan) grade. We were close friends for years before D asked G to 2013 prom with a Dairy Queen ice cream cake. I should've known right then that he was the one! After Dylan graduated high school and moved to Colorado for college at CSU, we decided to give the long distance thing a try and officially became a couple. We spent 5 years (!!!!) doing distance and living for those special weekend trips to see each other. After graduating from West Chester University, I moved to Madison where Dylan was living and working so that I could complete my dietetic internship and become a dietitian. It was SO fun living together in a new city that we decided to do it again in Boise!

The Proposal

Happy in a Hot Spring

We moved to Boise at the end of March 2021. Before starting our new jobs, we dedicated some time to explore our new state in classic D and G fashion: happy hours, hikes, and now hot springs! One day, D booked a yurt in Lowman, Idaho. We packed a cooler of huckleberry beer and snacks for a fun weekend of soaking in the hot springs. On our way to the yurt, we ran into a local park ranger who advised us to check out a more secluded hot spring than the one we originally set out for. BEST ADVICE EVER! We had Bonneville Hot Springs to ourselves and didn't see a single soul for hours. On April 1, 2021, D got on one knee and popped the question right as G was coming back into the hot pool with 2 freshly cracked beers. He does not recommend clenching a ring in your hand underwater while your soon-to-be fiance unknowingly snaps photos and videos for 10 minutes. We spent the rest of the day back at the yurt eating pizza and finger steaks, playing games, throwing the tennis ball for Cache, and watching elk cross the mountainside. What a perfect start to our lives together in Idaho.
