If you had asked Gavin whether or not he believed before transferring to UW–Eau Claire that he would find the love of his life—another resident assistant policing freshmen in a dorm—he would have told you that you were out of your mind. It was unlikely, but meant to be, that Gavin and Grace would spend that semester developing a friendship unlike any other they had previously experienced. Grace might have denied any interest in Gavin, claiming that she was only spending so much time with him because he had snuck an entire air conditioning unit into the dorm that year. They would be separated for a semester while Grace studied abroad in Spain, but when she returned in the fall with no less gravitational pull toward her coworker—and now fellow nursing student—it was a done deal for her. Gavin went home with Grace to meet her family over winter break as a friend, but that would not last long because he asked Grace to be his girlfriend in the wake of their trip to Chicago. The young couple has delighted in growing in their relationship with the Lord, depending on each other and on Him for courage in times of hardship, but they also delight in the profound blessings they have received. Gavin and Grace graduated in the winter of 2023, beginning their careers as nurses in exactly the same way they intend to spend the rest of their lives: hand in hand. Despite the fact that Grace can be incredibly hard to surprise, Gavin kept his plans to himself for a private moment at the Como Conservatory in the Twin Cities. It was there that Gavin asked Grace for the honor of being her husband, and she said yes, unable to think of a more perfect way to start their journey toward holy matrimony. They are both thrilled to receive the sacrament of marriage alongside family and friends, and they sincerely hope you can attend!
