Red Wine, and White
We wish all the children could come-- we have reserved children for family members only.
Yes. Ketchikan airport is located right across the channel on a neighboring island. The ferry costs $6 per person or $20 per car and then $6 per person. The ride takes about ten minutes. You can find out more about the ferry on the travel page. If you get a car rental with Budget Car Rental, they will give you a voucher and the ferry ride will be free of charge.
A car rental is important if you are not staying downtown. Anyone who stays at an AirBNB or The Landing might want to consider getting a car rental. Also, just a friendly reminder, there is no Uber or Lyft on the island. There are Taxi services and their contacts can be found on the Travel Page.
Ketchikan rains and rains and then the sun shines and shines. The weather varies but at night the lows are typically in the fifties. Bring a raincoat, a jacket, and clothes suitable for weather anywhere between 50 and 75 degrees with a likely chance of rain.
We are laid-back folks, we only ask that you don't wear jeans, but other than that whatever you feel comfortable in is fine with us. Please do keep in mind that it might rain and it will be a bit chilly in the evening. Bring a jacket.
Ketchikan is our home, and we are blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Ketchikan features tall snow-capped mountains, the lush temperate Tongass National Rainforest, and a small fishing town vibe that makes for a perfect getaway/adventure for your summer 2022!
A ferry leaves the Ketchikan side of the Tongass Narrows on the quarter hours and the airport side on the hour and half-hour every day. The first run of the day leaves the Ketchikan side at 6:15 am and the last run of the day leaves the airport side at 9:30 pm.
Yes to Taxis, No to Uber/Lyft. See our travel tab for more information.
There are bald eagles everywhere during the summer, in fact, you are as likely to see an eagle as a pigeon! You may also see, Seals, Otters, Humpback Whales, and ALL OF THE SALMON! If you are very lucky, or unlucky depending on how you look at it, you may also see a black bear! No worries, there are no Grizzlies on the island.
We will have transportation provided that leaves from Cape Fox Lodge. We will need you to rsvp for transportation by May 1st 2022. You may also drive your car but keep in mind that the parking is limited. Unless, you know you will leave the wedding early, we do ask that you take the transporation provided. If you are from the island, we ask that you carpool with friends.
Absolutely. You can reserve a shuttle from the Seattle airport to take you to the ferry in Bellingham Washington. From there, you will be on the ferry for two days. The ferry is a great experience but it is important to get a stateroom so you have somewhere to rest your head. You can also drive your car on the ferry but you will still need to order a stateroom. Zach and I did this traveling to Ketchikan and we had a great time. Bring Dramamine if you get motion sickness. For more information on the ferry google the Alaska Ferry system as well as Shuttle to the Alaska Ferry.
