How We Met

Co-laborers in Thailand and now for life!

We met for the first time in 2021 in Birmingham, AL, at a training for our two years of ministry with Campus Outreach in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Throughout our time in Asia, the two of us always found ourselves ending up together in social situations. Maybe that was from both of us staying late to clean up after an event. Perhaps that was out to eat with a group, and we found ourselves interested in talking about the same things. From riding our mopeds side-by-side on the way home from Thai church to flying back and forth between Kansas and NC to see each other, our love for each other continues to grow. And we are learning that we have so much in common! Perhaps that is why we always found ourselves gravitating towards each other... Wilson: One of my memories of an early spark of interest towards Grace was on a group trip to Singapore, and Grace tagged along with me to visit a church service. A very sweet young couple invited us to eat ramen for lunch, and it almost felt like a double date. I remember noticing that Grace and I get along well, enjoy exploring together, and eagerly meet new people. Today, I get tears in my eyes seeing my fiancée reading her Bible, sharing the Gospel with a friend, and praying together with me. All of the character I see in Grace is due to God. His work in her has made her the beautiful woman I get to marry! Grace: One of my favorite first memories with Wilson was when he sat next to me on the bus from a summer beach project with Thai students. For the first time I really took notice to how kind and joyful he is! He made me laugh, he was easy to talk to, and I saw the authenticity he lives by. Since then, I have continually admired the joy he brings to a room and to our love story--truthfully, I don't know how else he does it besides giving credit to the relationship he has with God! Anyone who meets him quickly feels included and encouraged. He makes life fun and cares deeply. It is a sweet gift to get to marry him and to be called his wife!
