Please arrive by 5:30. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6. We will have a bar with sparkling wine and beer for your enjoyment. You are welcome to grab a drink and peruse the sculpture garden. Just don't get lost and miss the ceremony!
Colorful Cocktail Attire! Wear something fun, colorful, and fabulous! This is the perfect opportunity to break out a brightly patterned dress or your favorite pocket square. Our favorite brands that have inspired this theme are: Farm Rio, Anthropologie, Ulla Johnson, and others. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors and on grass, so keep that in mind as you make your shoe choice.
The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors (on grass). The reception will be indoors. If it rains, we will move our ceremony and cocktail hour into the museum.
Yes, you can park along the entrance to the museum. We highly recommend taking an Uber/Lyft to the venue rather than driving, though.
Typically, temperatures are in the high 70s or 80s. Our ceremony will be outside (shaded by trees, but otherwise uncovered) and our reception will be inside (air conditioned). The museum has AC so you may want to bring a light sweater if you're concerned about getting cold indoors. Our hope if that you'll be out on the dance floor dancing which should theoretically keep you warm enough!
Our reception will be a New Orleans-style cocktail reception, which means there will not be assigned seats. Take a seat wherever you are comfortable. A variety of dinner options will be available at stations.
The venue is a 10-15 minute Lyft/Uber from the hotel blocks. There are no hotels within walking distance of the venue.
We would not recommend renting a car. New Orleans is a relatively small city with Lyfts/Ubers readily available at reasonable prices. Parking can be difficult if you are staying in the French Quarter/Downtown.
Via Lyft/Uber. We will not be providing a shuttle service. Please plan to use a ride share app to get to the venue on time. You can take the Canal St streetcar line from downtown but the schedule is a bit unreliable so we don’t recommend it. If you’d like to visit the museum / Sculpture Garden / City Park at another point during your visit, this could be a fun option to get there!
Hotel information is in the Travel section of our website. You can call your hotel of choice and mention the name of our block to access our pre-negotiated hotel rates.
A second line parade is traditional for New Orleans weddings. The newly married couple and the brass band lead the parade - they are called the "first line." All guests and other party-goers follow and form what is called the "Second line." Weddings guests in the second line are encouraged to walk, skip, dance, and wave a handkerchief. This is a celebration of the new chapter that the couple is embarking on. We plan to second line from the ceremony to the cocktail hour and then from the cocktail hour to the reception. These will be VERY short distances and walkable for all guests. The second line parade route is wheelchair friendly and we'll make sure we have someone at the back of the line guiding everyone to the right place.
New Orleans has seemingly endless options of things to do. The hotel blocks are situated walking distance to the French Quarter. We recommend walking to the Quarter and exploring the many antique shops, restaurants, and bars. Check out the "things to do" tab for more recommendations.
Yes! Beignet Fest is happening on Sat, Sept 21 in City Park. Tickets are usually $20 in advance or $25 at the gate. This could be a fun activity for the morning/early afternoon of our wedding day. While the festival is technically walking distance from the wedding, we don't recommend, as it will likely be warm and the festival's dress code won't match ours :) https://beignetfest.com/
