Sal and I met playing trivia at a local brewery in Winston Salem. Sal was the team's geography buff while my specialties were science and music. Together with our friends, we started winning, and then surprisingly kept winning until we were awash in free beers and swag. This continued for about a year until one night, while thrashing him at shuffle board, I asked Sal why he hadn't asked me out yet? Sal said, "Funny you should ask," the rest is history.

Sal proposed at the top of the Green Lake trail in Crested Butte, Colorado, one of our favorite hikes. He suggested that we take some pictures for my mom, since it was a gorgeous afternoon. After taking a few pictures with the self-timer on my phone, Sal said we should take a few more, since we never take enough photos together. He made a joke about how short I am as an excuse to kneel down, and right as the timer was going off, he gently tapped me and presented me with the ring box. Completely caught off guard I actually thought I was being punked! After making sure it wasn't a joke, I of course said yes.

We love spending time in our garden, cooking, fermenting anything and everything, trying new foods, environmental design, and did I mention food?
