Our Story

Once upon a time, in a bustling classroom at Oak Park and River Forest High School, two freshmen students laid their eyes on each other. Grace’s first recollection of Noah was, “what a polite young man!” She found it hard to believe he was just a freshman and thought certainly he must be a sophomore. Noah subsequently recalls that Grace stood out to him for her thorough analysis of all assigned reading. One fateful day in the winter of 2012, their teacher gave the class group assignments, and Grace and Noah found themselves in the same group. Grace sent out an email that caught Noah’s eye with highly specific instructions and deadlines. Noah has since classified this famous email as a royal edict and has described Grace as a self-appointed group dictator. Grace’s side of the story is that she had concerns about the work product not being up to her standards. By the end of freshman year, they were officially dating. Like all the cool kids, Noah’s favorite after-school activity was playing songs from A Prairie Home Companion on the piano and asking Grace to sing along. They stayed together through high school and applied to colleges. Despite their parents’ best efforts to prevent co-dependence, they followed each other to Washington University in St. Louis and suspiciously ended up in the same dormitory. In college, Grace and her two roommates (both Friends of Honor) tended to be slightly messy (or as Noah describes their apartment, a health hazard). The girls resolved this problem by paying Noah to do some of his favorite things: vacuuming and organizing. As they approached graduation, they faced an even bigger challenge: Noah went off to medical school at NYU while Grace tackled law school at Stanford. The distance grew, but so did their bond. After Grace finished the Bar Exam, Noah orchestrated a surprise marriage proposal in a Manhattan karaoke bar full of friends from all over the country. Now, Noah and Grace are finally tying the knot. And so, their next chapter begins—full of love, laughter, and the occasional dictatorial email.
