Mark and Grace both attended Camp E.D.I. as kids, a summer camp for Type 1 diabetics. In 2019, when they were both old enough, Mark and Grace both became camp counselors. Mark and Grace were friends at camp, but nothing more. Four years later, Mark was transporting a patient at Barnes Jewish Hospital when he walked onto the unit where Grace was a charge nurse. Grace saw him and said "Mark???" A couple weeks later, Mark and Grace went on their first date where he asked her to be his girlfriend. On March 8, 2025, Mark proposed to Grace in St. Charles, MO and she said Yes! Mark had also planned a surprise engagement party to celebrate after the proposal with their closest friends and family.
