Kyle and Grace met at Iowa State during the fall of their junior year, right before Thanksgiving break. Grace spent the holiday thinking it over and decided she'd rather keep things casual, staying in the same friend group felt like enough. Kyle had other ideas. When Christmas break came around and Grace mentioned she was heading to Milwaukee to visit her friend Maya, Kyle offered to drive up and join them for shopping and dinner. If you know Kyle at all, you know that says everything, this is someone who does not voluntarily go shopping. Grace noticed, but she still wasn't quite ready to call it a date. He asked her out five more times after that. Kyle, never one to shy up, had a go-to line during this stretch ,"when you're done settling for average, let me know." On the sixth ask, Grace told him that if he could make it back from his trip by 5:00, she'd go. He made it back by 5:00. Things moved naturally from there, and just before Grace left for Denver for the summer, Kyle asked her to make it official. They did long distance that summer, found their way back to each other for senior year, and then after graduation, picked up right where they left off , three more years of distance, and never once a reason to stop.
