Life is short and fragile. We search our whole lives looking for reasons to live. Those of us that are lucky enough to recognize it when we find it better hold on tight and never let go. I had a moment of profound clarity when the woman I love was alone in a hospital across the world. Everything that I thought was important in life melted away, and she became the only thing in my universe. I could not fathom a world without her. I hopped on a plane to Scotland, and with the help of some amazing doctors and her most loving sister, she was back to health after a week in the hospital. A few days later, I proposed. We were 200 miles north of the arctic circle, camping on a beach, watching the the endless sunset. No ring. No photos. Just Grace and I in the only place on earth as beautiful and unique as the love we share. Thankfully, even without a ring, she said yes! I knew. I know. I’ll always know.
