Little did I know when I found my best friend that I'd be getting a two-for-one deal of a lifetime. Emma Jane Farmer and I met through church when we were both 12 years old. We spent every weekend together, rocking out to Guitar Hero, making crazy homemade movies, and trading houses for sleepovers. Gradually, through all my time spent at the Farmers, I got to know Jonathan. I was impressed by his kindness, his sense of self as well as sense of humor, but most of all the consistency of his character. Of course, beginning our relationship was neither smooth nor easy. I spent 7 years wondering if he even liked me back. Thankfully, Jonathan finally ended the mystery in May 2016 by asking me to be his girlfriend. The first 3 years of our relationship were long-distance while I attended Bryan College and Jonathan MTSU. We were both busy with classes, I with being an RA, and Jonathan with soccer. We had to be intentional with making trips to visit each other, calling, and sending care packages to keep connected. In the past year that we’ve gotten to live close, we’ve spent our moments together wisely by binge-watching anime, playing frisbee golf in the park, and consuming an unfathomable amount of Asian food. On January 31st, Jonathan took me on a date to see the Chinese lantern festival at the Nashville Zoo and a bowl of ramen afterwards (what did I say about Asian food?). The weather was warm for a winter night, I happened to look stunning, and the walk-through under the lights was incredible. I couldn’t help but think as we strolled on the path, “This would have been the perfect place for a proposal if he’d have thought of it.” And as I discovered when he got down on one knee at the end of the night, he agreed! I am currently finishing a MBA through Bryan College, which I will complete in August. After our wedding in September, Jonathan and I will have almost a year school-free before he attends a 2-year program to become a Physician Assistant.
