It all started at Legends golf course in Parkersburg during a global pandemic and one serious hangover. Jonah had been working at Legends part time while also working at Scheels full-time, when Grace had just started. Her first day, this guy had basically stumbled in after a long night of drinking into the kitchen. He proceeded to make himself some breakfast, little did she know he was very hungover. After a dozen eggs, a pound of bacon and pot of coffee he finally said hi. They had talked on and off, but when COVID-19 shut basically everything down, it shut them down too. When things started to open back up, Grace started back at Legends. However, she was sad to hear that Jonah was at a different golf course. She guilted him into coming back to work with her. They had been on a couple of dates, but on July 17th, 2020 (5 years ago, mmhmm) he made it official with roses and Chinese food. During their first year of dating, they enjoyed a lot of lunch dates at Scheels, golfing, fishing, bow hunting (watching) and a trip to Jonah's family cabin. On their first anniversary, someone had forgotten, not only did someone forget they also made the other person pay for their golf tournament that day. Apparently, the first person, the same one who forgot their anniversary had forgotten their wallet. Grace will let you decide who that first person was. Safe to say, Jonah hasn't forgotten one since. In their 5 years of dating, they have lived in three different places. The first with Jonah's cousin, Alex (groomsman) in Dike, second by theirselves in Parkersburg and finally enjoying their first home in Cedar Falls (est. 2024). They have two wiener dogs, Cooper, their sweet and cuddly boy that proudly protects the lawn from pestering squirrels, and Pearl, their spunky, sort of scared of everything, pretty girl. They bought a boat in 2022 and have loved soaking up their time fishing and in the sun. While occasionally taking some time for themselves and heading to their favorite place, the cabin. A little getaway to the cabin was just what everyone needed, Grace's parents before school started and both Jonah and Grace after a busy stretch at work. Their favorite place got even better on August 15th when Jonah FINALLY popped the question. They are excited to enjoy their special day with all of their loved ones!
