Jon and Grace’s story began in Colorado Springs at the United States Air Force Academy, where early mornings are a way of life and breakfast at Mitch’s quickly became a daily tradition. Somewhere between early mornings, demanding schedules, and countless meals shared side by side, God brought two lives together in a way neither expected. They began dating on August 27, 2022, grounded in a shared sense of purpose and a growing faith that would become the foundation of everything that followed. From the beginning, their relationship was centered on faith, consistency, and learning how to love one another selflessly. When life led them down separate paths, they leaned not only on each other—but on God. For two years, their relationship stretched across states and time zones, with Jon at his first duty station in Sacramento, California, and Grace beginning hers in Enid, Oklahoma. Long distance tested their patience and endurance, but it also strengthened their trust in God’s timing and His plan for their lives. During this season, Grace began a tradition that marked each reunion: baking banana bread for Jon every time they saw each other. What started as a simple gesture became a symbol of love lived out in action—faith expressed not just in words, but in service, intention, and care. Each visit was a reminder that even when separated by miles, God was present in the waiting and faithful in the growing. Their relationship continued to deepen in the places that shaped their hearts and families. Time spent in Charlotte, North Carolina, with Jon’s family and in Yucaipa, California, with Grace’s family reinforced the values they shared and the importance of building a life rooted in faith and community. Through every move and every season, they learned that home is not a place—it is where God is at the center and love is chosen daily. That journey has now led them to Honolulu, Hawai‘i—where Jon asked Grace to marry him, and where they will stand before God, their families, and their friends to begin a covenant of marriage. After years of distance, prayer, and trust in God’s guidance, they are choosing forever with gratitude for every step that led them here. With faith as their foundation and love as their calling, Jon and Grace are excited to begin this next chapter together—hand in hand, wherever God leads them next.
