Here's the thing. You can watch, like, the first 15 minutes at twitch.tv/jeremyechols. My little 'nieces' had my phone and were streaming it. However, I was worried my battery might die (and kill the stream), so I plugged a power pack in to my phone. What I did not foresee was that the combination of heat from the outdoors, heat from processing Twitch and heat from pulling all that power from the battery would OVERheat my phone and cause it to shut off and restart. And while I gave the girls my phone, I didn't think I needed to give them my passcode - so that's where the stream stopped. However, after a short delay, my mom gave the girls her phone to stream/facetime/something (I dunno, I was a little busy) the rest of the ceremony - so at some point I'll put all those clips together and upload them to Youtube. But we also had a videographer, so that'll be a thing that will come down the road as well.
We plan to provide masks and hand sanitizer as favors, but we strongly encourage you to bring a backup! The ceremony and reception will be set up according to social distancing standards. As for expectations, we only ask that our guests be considerate of one another - please wear a mask when you're not eating, try to be aware of personal bubbles and just be cool, man. We will also be livestreaming the event (details tbd) for those who are unable to physically attend for whatever reason - so please do not feel pressured to attend in person, our feelings will not be hurt if you do not feel comfortable attending in person. This is a celebration, not a stressor - do that which sparks joy, not anxiety!
First, let's address the reality that you will not find a decent hotel in Marrero - or Gretna, Harvey, Westwego, Bridge City, Belle Chase or Algiers. The Westbank is not decent. Covington is on the Northshore. The whole of Lake Pontchartrain (and some of Metairie) separates it from New Orleans, so no, they are not the same. To get from New Orleans (or Metairie or Kenner), you will need to cross the Ponchartrain Causeway, which is the world's longest bridge (it takes about 30 minutes to get across) - which is cool if you've never done it, but a nightmare if you hate water! There is also a $5 toll going from Covington to New Orleans and it is Cash Only, heads up. If you look at our 'Travel' section, we will provide some hotel recommendations. But if you want to look on your own, Mandeville and Slidell are also on the Northshore; Metairie and Kenner are in the New Orleans suburbs and closer to the Causeway (and its where we live). If you book anything in downtown New Orleans (or God forbid, the French Quarter), plan for a lengthy drive.
No one has actually asked this, but I wish they would.
Your guess is as good as mine.
