Like many great love stories, ours began with dry rot, mycelium, and a home inspection. Grace and Jason first met in 2022, when Jason came to inspect her house after she began experiencing issues with the flooring. Grace’s brother recommended she call Orkin because Jason had previously helped him with his commercial account years earlier. At the time, Jason arrived as a professional and seasoned home inspector with one thing on his mind – making the sale! Unfortunately, the inspection uncovered much bigger problems than Grace expected. Between the crawlspace repairs, dry rot, and other surprises, she ended up spending so much money that day that she blocked most of it out of her memory! While Jason remembers that first meeting, Grace mostly remembers the shock of the 5-figure repair bill. Over the next few years, their relationship remained entirely professional. During that time, Grace traveled extensively, lived in different places, and explored what she thought would be the next chapter of her life. Meanwhile, Jason became her trusted expert whenever something unexpected happened at home. From beetles and ants to mice and everything in between, he was always the person she called when another challenge appeared at the house. The two stayed in touch through emails, phone calls, and service appointments, never imagining that their story would become anything more. Then, in early 2025, Grace decided to sell her home and pursue a long-held dream of traveling the world before settling somewhere in South America or Southeast Asia. Before leaving, she wanted to thank the people who had helped her along the way, and Jason was at the top of that list. She invited him out for a “thank-you” coffee down the road, and what she thought would be a simple cup of coffee turned into something entirely unexpected. Jason responded with not one, not two, but six different date suggestions. That coffee invitation eventually led to a March 2025 hike, and somewhere along the way, through conversations, laughter, and time spent together, they both realized they had found something special. Fast forward a year and a half, and the woman who was planning to leave Tennessee and travel the world found something she never expected to find at home: her person. Little did she know Jason had known all along. To her surprise, Jason revealed that when they first met, he told his managers that he just knew that he’d be so happy if he could be with a woman as charming and kind as Grace. Today, they’re happily engaged and excited to begin their next adventure together. Their story may have started with a crawlspace inspection, but it has led to a lifetime of love, partnership, and countless adventures still to come.
