Once upon a time, at our friends Riley and Andreas’ wedding, Grace and Jake were tasked with walking down the aisle together as a bridesmaid and groomsman. It was the kind of celebration where love is literally in the air, and apparently, so was destiny. Little did we know, a single weekend would change our lives forever. From the first dance to late-night laughs, we spent the entire weekend practically attached at the hip. Jake insists it was love at first sight… Grace, on the other hand, thought maybe love was just “in the air” (and maybe a little fueled by champagne). Either way, sparks flew, laughter erupted, and hearts started beating a little faster. But, as the weekend came to an end, reality intervened. The fairytale risked fading... until Jake, with the courage of a man determined by love, asked for her number. Grace went back to Colorado, where she was pursuing her master’s in mechanical engineering at Boulder, and Jake went back to Fargo, ND, working as a water resources engineer. After a month of texting (and Grace nervously avoiding his calls), Jake made a bold move: he asked, no he insisted, on flying to Colorado to take her on a date. And on that fateful day, Grace almost turned the car around on the way to the airport—she thought she might be having a heart attack—while Jake was sweating through his sweatshirt throughout the entire plane ride. That first date changed everything, they both knew they had found the one. Jake kept flying to Colorado for skiing, rock climbing, dinners, and more adventures, all while Grace finished her master’s degree. And then, because only a man in love would do this, Jake sold his house in Fargo and moved to Nebraska to start their next chapter together after Grace landed her first job. And then in December, under a canopy of snow at lake Louise in Banff, Canada, Jake got down on one knee and asked Grace to make him the luckiest man alive. And of course, she said yes. Because after all the laughter, flights, nerves, and adventures... Jake is her only love, and Grace is his forever. Today, they live on Grace’s family farm, traveling, exploring, reading, and spoiling their golden retriever Buck, who quickly became Grace's adopted son. It was the kind of story that could only happen in real life… or a Hallmark movie.
