Our story began when we were just 14, back in Cadets, where we first met. We dated for a while, but, like a complete fool, I let Grace go. Life carried on, but thankfully, fate wasn’t done with us. We reconnected at 20, thanks to “the app,” and it felt like no time had passed at all. It all kicked off on a random Sunday when I found myself walking from Stoughton to Worplesdon for a friend’s cricket match, and, realizing I'd taken a wrong turn, I panicked. So, I messaged Grace, asking if she could pick me up. What should’ve been a three-minute drive turned into a 20-minute detour around the outskirts of Guildford—all because I purposely gave her the wrong directions. I was just buying more time with her. That’s when I made my move and asked her on a date. To this day, it’s still the smoothest move I’ve ever made and, without a doubt, the best decision of my life. Our first date was unforgettable. We couldn’t bear for it to end, so we visited four different coffee shops, just to keep the conversation going. That date sparked months of messaging, FaceTime calls, spontaneous trips to see each other on Friday nights, and many weekends spent together in her university halls. Honestly, if the university had known how much time I was there, they probably would’ve tried to charge me rent! Months passed, and I eventually gathered the courage to ask Grace to be my girlfriend. It was October 2018, on a freezing cold day, and for some reason, I thought the site of the Magna Carta was the perfect spot for such an important question. Thankfully, she said yes, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Fast forward through the years—meeting each other’s families, moving in together, navigating a global pandemic, university applications, graduations, new jobs, medical school, moving to London, incredible holidays, and unforgettable moments with friends and family. Laughter, love, and life were all wrapped up together as we experienced everything side by side. Then came April 2024. On the 12th, on a stunning beach in Cornwall, I had the incredible opportunity to ask the love of my life, the person who had been my world for the past five and a half years, if she would marry me. And guess what? She said yes!
