Zaytinya by José Andrés
José Andrés is our favorite chef in DC, both for his philanthropy and his food! For dinner, Zaytinya is our personal favorite, or you can check out China Chilcano, Oyamel, or Jaleo (all within a few blocks of one another). Located in the Gallery Place/Chinatown neighborhood (15 min drive).
Rasika West End
Polished restaurant & lounge serving contemporary Indian food, wine & cocktails. (5 min walk)
Lutèce
A French Neo-Bistro in the heart of historic Georgetown. Delicious brunch and dinner are served here in a casual atmosphere. (5 min drive or 20 min walk)
Filomena Ristorante
One of the premier Italian food restaurants for over 30 years in Washington DC. Filomena is unmatched in both its atmosphere and portion sizes. (12 min walk)
Tatte Bakery & Cafe
Tatte is a great spot for morning coffee and a decadent pastry near the hotel.
Call Your Mother Deli
We frequent the Georgetown location (as does Joe Biden after attending mass at Holy Trinity), but the West End location is blocks away from wedding headquarters. We recommend the Thunderbird sandwich.
Dog Tag Bakery
Dog Tag runs a nonprofit fellowship program for post-9/11 veterans with service-connected disabilities, as well as for military spouses and caregivers. This is a great spot to grab coffee and a bite while shopping or touring in the heart of Georgetown.
Tour the Monuments
There are tours by foot, bike, bus and more. We think the most fun is by Segway with Capital Segway Tours.
Dumbarton Oaks Gardens
This is one of Grace's favorite spots in Georgetown. Originally a private estate, sixteen acres were transferred to Harvard University in 1940 to establish a research institute for the history of gardens and landscape architecture. The gardens are impeccably designed and kept, and can be toured between the hours of 2-6pm for $7. Online reservations are required.
D.C. Area Hikes
Using the AllTrails app is a great way to see local options. Our (and Pinta's) favorites are Dumbarton Oaks, Rock Creek Park, Teddy Roosevelt Island, and if you're looking for a challenge - the Billy Goat Trail.
Shopping in Georgetown
Georgetown's M street is a shopper's paradise, boasting an eclectic grouping of antiques, boutiques, and luxury retailers.
