Having given up on dating, Grace handed her phone, Hinge open, to some friends who were kind enough to swipe for her. Grace's friend Preston saw a familiar face and encouraged her to message him. After deciding January was too cold for paddle boarding they opted for hot chocolate instead. Grace mixed up the time and showed up 15 minutes late. Carson, stressed about making it to his intramural water polo game was not thrilled. Carson ordered a hot chocolate with almond milk for the #gains, and Grace not liking hot chocolate said "I'll do the same." After an hour of chatting Carson had changed his mind about Grace and Grace had only had a few sips of her hot chocolate. Remembering Grace said something about her tire pressure being low, Carson offered to fill her tires up with air, even though he was in a rush to get to his game. After the date, Grace went to a movie marathon with some coworkers and made sure to brag about Carson filling up her tires.
Before Grace dropped Carson off at the airport after spending Christmas together, Carson turned off his location and told her the next time she saw him he'd be proposing. After doing the math in her head, she was convinced he would propose the weekend of January 24th, the anniversary of their first date. A few days later, Grace's cousins texted her inviting her to go get their nails done together. Grace was so sure she was being proposed to in two weeks instead of one, that she tried multiple times to convince them to get dinner instead. She knew her nails would never last that long. Finally she gave up and figured she'd use it as a trial run to make sure she liked the color she chose. That week she also got a call from her brother Tanner inviting her to go to lunch and the Springville art museum with their sister Eliza. Grace didn't question a thing. She just thought she was having a really good week. At lunch with her siblings, Grace ordered a drink and decided she was going to get her moneys worth. She sat and chatted, refilled her drink, and chatted some more. She thought it was odd when her siblings started throwing their trash away so quick. She had at least one more refill and about 8 more stories in her. Then she suggested they go to the BYU MOA instead. She had just been to The Springville Art Museum and knew they were in between galleries and didn't have much on the walls so it wouldn't be that fun. Eliza and Tanner reassured her that they wanted to go to the Springville Art museum more for the nostalgia than the art, so Grace gave in. She offered to drive them all and then spent 10 minutes in the parking lot talking to a dog with its head hanging out the window. Finally they pulled up to the museum and immediately ran into Grace's friend Cheynie who works there. Grace had just talked to Cheynie about work so she knew she was super busy and didn't have much time to talk. That's why Grace found it odd when she offered to take them up to her "favorite" gallery. Grace had just been here so she had already seen everything in this gallery. She kinda glanced around then realized no one followed her in. She awkwardly asked Cheynie why this was her favorite gallery to try to dissipate the weird energy in the room. Finally, Grace saw the table that wasn't there before. On it was flowers, a painting signed "CC," and note from Carson. As Grace read he letter she still wasn't convinced Carson was there. The end of the letter invited her to meet Carson in the sculpture garden. As they made what felt like a torturously long walk down to the garden, Grace can be heard on video saying, "He has a golf lesson this weekend", "He just texted me saying he got work today," and "I didn't think it'd be today!" As she opened the doors to the sculpture garden, she couldn't help but run to him. "I think he proposed next? Honestly? I blacked out after I saw him. I'm sure I said yes because now we're getting married. Oh and I said something about the ring being wrong-but don't worry, we got it fixed:) We talked with our families on FaceTime after and he planned for our friends to come over that night. It was the best day. And I'm sure July 23rd will somehow manage to be even better." -Grace
