We met in the beginning of 2016 in a church small group in Jersey City. I was relatively new, after having decided to recommit myself to growth and realign myself to what God's will is for my life. He was coming back to his old small group, after his small group in NYC was dissolved. We quickly became friends. I was outgoing, so was he. In the summer, I played a lot of beach volleyball. He did not play volleyball but what he was lacking in technique, he more than made up in enthusiasm. None of us has a car, so the long train rides to the beach paved way for good conversations. And that is how our friendship started. Fast forward to October 2016. I was studying for a very stressful exam. I did not handle stress very well. I got sick a couple of times. I was not eating. I isolated myself from everyone so I can study. I did not text anyone, nobody texted me. Except him. He brought me soup and medicine when I got sick. He brought me bread and reminded me to eat. He was being a good friend. November 5th was my exam day. Two days later, he told me he liked me. He said he has been thinking about it for a couple of weeks already. And praise God for His perfect timing! And for Ashish for having patience and wisdom to wait! Had he asked me earlier, my answer would have been an easy straight no. It took me less than 30 mins to say I like him back.
Our story started with very simple needs: food & company. I met her at the peak stress of her time. I was sure to hear "No" if I had decided to ask her out then. However, at that time she needed someone who could help her unwind. So here comes the HERO... La la laaa!!! :D I became the ONE... friend. She was stressed out and I brought her bread and gave her company, fulfilling her basic needs. With God's wisdom, I decided to ask her out after her exams and she said "Yes". The beginning of an end to waiting!!!
