It's All in The Details

First comes marriage...then comes a celebration

While we are overjoyed to tie the knot this summer, we are also saddened that so many of our loved ones are unable to travel to be with us. The next best thing we could do is invite you to join us virtually. Our goal is to have a larger celebration in 2-3 years where we can celebrate safely together! All of our love, Grace and Alex

How We Met

Grace & I were living in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area when we met. We matched on the dating app, Hinge. Immediately we both felt a connection when we stayed up late into the night texting and talking on the phone to each other. We planned our first date for the following day. We met at a local, Canadian owned, walk-up poutine stand called Dairy Belle. The nerves were so high that we barely ate any of the poutine. Since our date was going so well, we continued the night at the beach bar Quarterdeck, drinking old-fashions. We had many more dates including several hockey games to see both Grace's Edmonton Oilers and Alex's Pittsburgh Penguins. From the beginning there were sparks that both of us knew would lead to a strong-lasting love.

How He Asked

On May 1st, we were in Cleveland looking for an apartment for us to move into in September. I (Alex) planned a brunch with long time friend Matt, and his fiancé Kelsey. We were originally going to go a local favorite, called Lucky’s Cafe, but the wait was 2 hours so we went to another place called Southside. It ended up being a great spot and happened to be right across the street from our favorite coffee shop in Cleveland, The Loop. Funny enough, it was at this very coffee shop we decided to move in with each other a year and a half prior. Then, seeing as Grace had talked about how she wanted to take pictures at one of the famous script Cleveland signs at Edgewater Park overlooking Lake Erie and downtown, we headed there. What she didn’t know was that there was a surprise in store. When we got to the sign there was a line, since the NFL Draft was going on in town and people wanted to take pictures there as well. When we got up to the sign Matt and Kelsey took pictures for us. We took one picture and then Grace asked how we should take the next picture. I nervously stumbled in my jacket to pull out a ring box, got down on my knee and said “we should take one like this”. Grace was stunned with surprise and began to cry with joy. I asked her to marry me and she enthusiastically said yes! Cars passing by honked their horns and people that we didn’t even knew all began to cheer for us. It was a truly perfect day!
