Grace and Adesh first matched on Hinge in mid-2021, but because life is busy and dating is hard, they never got in touch. But in December of that same year, Grace remembered that she had matched with a really good-looking, tall Indian man a few months back. So she messaged him, hanging on a hope that he was still single and ready to mingle. To her shock and delight - he was! On December 19th, 2021, they met up at the Domain for coffee and the two of them will tell you that they separately arrived "mostly on time". Grace, because had taken too long to start getting ready. Adesh, because he had to go play soccer. It WAS a Sunday after all. They met outside of Jinya Ramen and learned there was a 1.5 hour long wait time. So they went next door for a coffee and chatted, beginning to know each other. Then they had lunch and chatted again. In fact, they chatted for so long, their first lunch date also had to include dinner. So you have a boy from Punjab, India, near the Himalayan Mountains and the border of Pakistan. He leaves the safety and comfort of all he has ever known to journey to an entirely different country. There he completes grad school and somehow finds himself stumbling into Austin, securing a job, and learning how his new life will look. And then you have a girl from Corpus Christi, Texas. All she knows is Texas, for better or for worse. She ping-pongs back and forth in a 4-hour diameter, trains in Theatre, then tackles, sales, old people, and finally youth. She's never lived outside of her state. And somehow, in what can only be described as an Act of God, they meet. And not only that, but they fall in love. These two people who probably should have never met, if you prefer to look at the world as having no meaning, meet. And these two cultures learn from one another in fascinating, beautiful, wonderful ways. These cultures learn that one was never meant to rule over the other, but to marry. And so it begins. Since then, they have been inseparable, only leaving each other's side when work calls or an overnight youth trip - which Adesh will always use as an opportunity to tell Grace that is when the apartment is the most empty. She feels the same when he is gone, of course. They both agree that they never get tired of each other. One's greatest adventures include the other. Between the two of them and Gouda, their beloved dog, their favorite pastime, at the end of the day, may just be sitting in each other's company, soaking up the blessing that they somehow get to exist at the same time as each other. On April 5th, 2025, in the Sekrit Theatre in Austin, Adesh got down on one knee and asked Grace to marry him. Sorry, that's a lie. Adesh asked Grace to marry him while standing completely upright and without the ring in hand. But after a quick prompting by Grace, he remembered how to propose like they had practiced. He surprised her after with all their friends and family in what would become both of their favorite days to date. A Texan and a Punjabi walk into a bar. One orders a Shiner and the other doesn't drink. He also tells you he doesn't eat meat and asks you to check that the water doesn't have egg in it. And the Texan loves him very very much.
