Grace

Friends first. Friends always.

Vincent and I met through our friend named Chance. In June of 2016, my family and I moved to Charlotte, NC. My dad was going to be the senior pastor at Vincent's church. One day, I received a text message from Chance. He was sharing with me that he has a friend he wanted me to get to know. All he told me about Vincent back then was that this friend of his is very humble. So of course the first thing I do is facebook stalk this guy named Vincent Thao. When I landed on his facebook page, I saw his profile picture... and immediately I knew he wasn't my type. Haha! From that day onwards, I didn't care too much about how I presented myself to him. Or maybe I should say that I didn't mind showing him who I really was–– the dorky and quirky side of me. I was convinced that we would be nothing more than friends and that didn't bother me at all. This jumpstart our friendship. We were friends for about a good two years. Fall of 2017 was when things began to pick up a little bit more in our friendship. We both were involved in a small group that our friend Chance led and saw one another two times a week. Small group turned into one on one boba "friendship" dates. Then in December 2017, Vincent bravely confessed to me (since I kept telling him that I like men who aren't afraid to pursue me and confess their feelings). He asked my dad for permission to date me and the rest became history. We are finally at our fourth year of being together, and I absolutely cannot wait to spend my lifetime with my best friend.

Back in 2016, Chance told me of a girl that would be coming to my church soon and it was Grace. I looked her up and thought the same thing as her: she's not my type. We were only friends during our first year. Soon after that, we joined a small group that our friend Chance started. We saw and talked to each other a lot more and it started to change my view of her. I began to see her for who she really was: the funny, goofy, quirky, and sensitive sides of her. Each time we talked and hung out, I felt more and more comfortable with her. Slowly, I began to fall for her. One day I built up the courage to ask her Dad (soon to be my Dad) for permission to date his daughter. It was nerve racking but worth it! And the rest is history. It's been four and a half years since we have been together. I truly cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
