November 4th was my 30th birthday and Nic and I had big plans that weekend to head up to a cabin to celebrate with friends. Little did I know, Nic had some even bigger plans that would impact the rest of our lives. That day we woke up and walked Rue and Lexi. After that we had a leisurely breakfast at Melrose down the street where we scored some free bloody marys (birthday luck!) before packing to head up north. On the way to the cabin in Harshaw, WI we stopped at Chef Fusion for a romantic, coursed meal in Green Bay, WI. @MilwaukeeFoodDuo approved :) We still had a few more hours to go after dinner to make it to the cabin, it was dark, we were full and getting sleepy. I told Nic I couldn't wait until we could change into comfy clothes and curl up with some Netflix. Nic agreed but of course, he still had a surprise up his sleeve. When we arrived to the cabin we were excited to see they must have been setting up for a Christmas light exhibit that hadn't yet started because there were gorgeous, unlit light structures everywhere. We noticed they forgot to turn off the lights to a cute gazebo right outside our cabin. Once we got everything unpacked, Nic brought out some champagne and said we should finish out my birthday with a toast and go check out the lights in the gazebo. I was cold but couldn't say no to the sweet gesture, or champagne, so we headed out there. Nic handed me a birthday card and while reading the card I soon realized, this wasn't just a birthday message. Nic has always had a way with words and the ability to make me feel more love than I ever imagined. With him down on one knee, I couldn't wait to say yes to spending the rest of our lives together. We took the night to celebrate just us two before sharing the news and it was so special. The next day our friends arrived to the cabin and we celebrated all weekend long. It was perfect. Now we can't wait to celebrate with all of you on our big day!
