Question

What parking accommodations are available?

Answer

For guests who are driving themselves, parking is available in the zoo's main parking lot. From there, a shuttle will be available to transport guests to and from the Bissell Treehouse, where the ceremony and reception will take place. The shuttle will start transporting guests to the treehouse approximately 30 minutes prior to the ceremony, and it does take around 10 minutes with limited availability on each shuttle. Please plan to arrive early to allow travel time and ensure shuttle availability.

Can I leave my vehicle in the parking lot overnight?

Yes! All vehicles must be picked up by 10:00 AM the following morning.

Is there a cost to self park?

Answer

Not for wedding guests. Although the zoo does charge $5 for any non-members or non-residents of Kent County, parking is complimentary for all wedding guests. Upon arrival, please make sure to take a ticket from the kiosk when entering the parking lot and bring it with you up to the treehouse. At the conclusion of the event, the zoo's transportation team will validate all parking tickets. When exiting the lot, just insert your validated ticket into the machine and the gate will open. IMPORTANT NOTE: Validation is valid until 10:00AM the following day to accommodate any guests who choose to leave their vehicle overnight. The zoo will not issue refunds to any parking fees paid in advance.

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We encourage our guests to wear cocktail attire- think semi-formal and elegant, without the need for black tie or tuxedos.

Will the wedding take place outdoors or indoors?

Answer

The ceremony and cocktail hour will be held outdoors. May weather in Michigan can vary, so we recommend dressing in layers and planning for both sunshine and cooler temperatures.
