Ben and Sarah met through their campus ministry, The Auburn Wesley Foundation during their first year at Auburn. They were good friends throughout their freshman year of college, including being each other's "gameday dates" to fall football games. The next summer, while being over 3,500 miles and four time zones apart, Ben and Sarah grew closer. By the time Sarah returned to Auburn in the fall, Ben was ready to start a relationship. They dated for nearly three years, with the miles between them changing often. Between Sarah's home in Alaska and Ben's co-ops in Mississippi and Georgia, they experienced that dreadful time apart. But Ben didn't let a 5 hour drive, one-way, from Jackson, Mississippi stop him from seeing his lady on the weekends. While he says the Auburn football season had a pretty good influence on his decision to drive 10-hours every weekend, we all know being with Sarah was the real reason. After months of Sarah asking too many questions and impatiently waiting, Ben decided to ask her for her hand in marriage. On July 17th, 2020, Ben pulled off the sweetest surprise of proposing to Sarah and bringing both of their families together for the best weekend of celebration.
