Barton Springs Pool
A natural, spring-fed pool just south of downtown. This is one of our favorite summertime spots. Be sure to stop by Sno Beach near Barton Springs Road for a refreshing treat afterwards.
South Congress Avenue
Tons of shopping and restaurants to enjoy. Restaurant highlights include Home Slice Pizza, South Congress Cafe, and Hop Doddy Burger Bar. Also the famous "I love you so much sign" at Jo's Coffee.
Tacos. Tacos everywhere.
Too many amazing options but our personal favorites include Taco Joint, Veracruz, Pueblo Viejo, Taco Deli, Papalote, and of course Torchys.
Tex Mex
Too many great options on this list, too. Our favorites: Maudies, Matt's El Rancho, and Curras
BBQ
Favorites include Terry Black's, La Barbecue, and Mickelthwait Craft Meats. Further from town, we love Valentinas and the Salt Lick if you have some extra time. The best time of day to get BBQ is before/ during lunchtime. Many places sell out after lunch.
Zilker Metropolitan Park
Beautiful park near Barton Springs with views of downtown. Also the site of the Austin City Limits music festival in October.
Auditorium Shores at Town Lake Metropolitan Park
Leonard's personal favorite. Walk along the hike and bike trail and enjoy awesome views of downtown Austin.
