Hi family and friends, We would like to start by thanking everyone for the love and support we have received throughout our engagement, and especially over the last few weeks. It means more than you could imagine! After careful consideration and out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our loved ones, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our wedding celebration. At this time, we have rescheduled our event for Friday, September 11, 2020, at the same venue. We will monitor all the official updates and recommendations from San Diego County as this situation continues to evolve, and will stay in communication with you. In the event that large gatherings still are not an option in September, we may need to consider a date in 2021. One way or another, we look forward to celebrating this exciting milestone with you! On a positive note, we are planning to have a very small wedding ceremony, with just our immediate family present, on our original date of June 13th, 2020. We are so excited to marry each other and will share some pictures from that special day with you. We can't wait until the day we are all able to celebrate together, and until then, we hope you continue to stay safe and be well! Thank you for your flexibility and understanding! Sending our love, Colleen and Ryan
Ryan and Colleen met at the most romantic place in San Diego……. Bub’s. A classic dive bar along the world famous Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach. They had been introduced by a mutual friend and hit it off immediately. Ryan used his usual charm, wittiness and peanut tossing skills to court Colleen. While she used her purple flip phone and avid Facebook sleuthing skills to message him the next day. They proceeded to date each other the following year until the real world called. Colleen had to move to Los Angeles for her new career and Ryan left for Thailand to teach English for a year. Throughout the break they kept in contact and Colleen was the first person Ryan saw after he landed back in the United States. Colleen was eventually able to move back to San Diego the summer of 2013 and all was right in the world. In the beginning of 2017 they moved in to their first place together in the eccentric community of Ocean Beach with their sweet puppy Sadie. Depending on who you ask, it either took forever or it was perfect timing, Ryan asked Colleen to marry him. Prior to popping the big question they spent a beautiful sunset together with Sadie at a local beach known as “Secret Beach”. A bottle of wine later and Ryan had finally worked up the courage to ask the love of his life to marry him.. Under the market lights of their patio he asked Alexa to play Colleen’s favorite love song, Russell Dickerson “Yours”, and asked her to marry him. The tears and “Arrrrrreeee yoooouuuu seeeeeeeeerious” comment was good enough. They proceeded to enjoy the rest of the night facetiming family and friends to tell them the big news!
