COVID-19 UPDATE

Hi everyone! Due to the virus, the restrictions on large gatherings, and for the safety of our friends and family, Gabe and I have decided that we're going to effectively cancel our wedding on May 30th. We're still going to get married that day, but we're only going to have a few witnesses present and will follow social distancing guidelines. We won’t have a reception that day, instead we're moving the reception to a year from then where (hopefully) restrictions will be lifted by then and we can have a ‘1 year anniversary celebration and reception’. More info will be communicated later this year. We appreciate your understanding and hope everyone is staying safe.

How we met...

09.15.2014

At the bottom of the Walker dorm building at The University of Oklahoma, near the couches and ping-pong tables, our bridesmaid Jess was organizing a tabletop game session for anyone to join. Becca's roommate, Maggie, told her that they were going to watch a movie at the Sooner Theater, but instead they went downstairs to the lobby to meet people and make friends. At the same time, Gabe was already downstairs finishing a game of ping-pong with his roommate Chase, when he overheard the words that would change his life forever... "We're playing Cards Against Humanity: Game of Thrones edition." At that moment, Gabe knew that he had to join. It just so happened that moments earlier, Becca and Maggie also joined that group, and that was the first time that Becca and Gabe met. They had no idea that the little board game group would be the beginning of many wonderful friendships and a marriage.

The proposal...

01.09.2020

After living in the United States for over 10 years, Gabe was the first in his family to become a citizen. Friends and family came to Tulsa to witness and celebrate, and after a moving speech by the Mayor, an Oath, and several pictures, Gabe had become a US citizen. After the emotional ceremony, the party of friends and family went to a nearby restaurant to continue the celebration. After ordering food, Gabe uncharacteristically stood up to make a toast and thank everyone for their support, friendship, and love. He said that he wouldn't have made it this far without their help and that he appreciated every one of them for being there for him. Choking back tears, Gabe addressed Rebecca, telling everyone how she has been a source of strength for all these years, and that he hoped she would be there for him for the rest of the years to come. With that, Gabe got down on one knee and asked Becca if she would marry him, and be his companion for the rest of their lives.
